Alfa Romeo Tonale Concept Crossover
The Alfa Romeo Tonale concept crossover debuted in March 2019, but the production car has not yet appeared. The SUV was ready for release a year ago, but the management of the newly formed Stellantis concern sent it for revision at the last moment. And now the wait is coming to an end: it is announced that the production Alfa Romeo Tonale will be presented on February 8th. And at the end of December, the company published a video, at the end of which the finished car lit up.
Tonale with a length of 4.5 m will compete with Audi Q3 or Mercedes GLA SUVs. This will be the last Alfa on the platform of the former FCA corporation (we are talking about the Small Wide LWB “trolley” with a transverse engine on which the Jeep Compass is built): all subsequent models of the brand are already being designed on the unified platforms of the Stellantis concern, which are of French origin. And Tonale will be Alfa Romeo’s first plug-in hybrid: according to preliminary information, the title power plant will develop about 240 hp, although other modifications are expected.
The start of production is scheduled for March: Tonale will be produced in Italy. And in most markets, the new SUV will appear by the summer.
